KA1 SCH - “Museums and cultural education in schools” March 2023 (Turchi a Roma)

In March 2023, the Erasmus+ KA1 SCH project “Museums and Cultural Education in Schools” facilitated an inspiring exchange between educators from Gümüşhane, Turkey, and Italian institutions in Rome. The project highlighted the role of museums, literature, and the arts in fostering cultural education and mutual understanding.

The Turkish delegation visited the Biblioteca Centrale Ragazzi in Rome, where they engaged in discussions about reading promotion and children's literature. The visit showcased the library’s initiatives, including its work with schools and its treasured collections, such as the Munari archive and illustrations by Shaun Tan. This exchange, made possible by Associazione LUCE and led by Lucia Veleva, underscored the importance of sharing best practices in educational development.

The delegation also visited Istituto Comprensivo Frascati 1, where Italian students connected with their Turkish counterparts through a shared language of creativity—embracing multiculturalism, digital expression, and visual and musical arts. The warmth and openness of the interactions left a lasting impression, highlighting the power of education and culture to bridge differences and build connections. This memorable exchange strengthened the commitment to integrating cultural and artistic practices into educational systems, fostering a deeper appreciation for diversity and creativity.
