In April 2022, the Erasmus+ KA1 VET project “Good Practices for Inclusive VET for Students with SEN” facilitated an enriching exchange between educators from Bulgaria and Italian organizations in Arona. The project brought together 25 educators from specialized centers in Varna and Velingrad, Bulgaria, to share innovative approaches to vocational education and inclusion for students with special educational needs (SEN).
The visit, coordinated by Associazione Luce, included a warm welcome from Arona’s local authorities, including Mayor Federico Monti and Councillors Marina Grassani and Monia Mazza. The delegation was introduced to the work of Centro Diurno Brum and CAD, with coordinator Ezia Pernice presenting the impactful video “Non dirmi che non posso” (“Don’t Tell Me I Can’t”). In return, Bulgarian educators shared insights into their practices, fostering a professional and cultural exchange that highlighted the shared goal of promoting inclusion.
A key event during the visit was the meeting held at Hotel Atlantic, which focused on the topic: “Professional Education and Sport for Students with Disabilities: Different Practices – One Goal INCLUSION.” Participants included educators from the Bulgarian centers, Giorgio Pierucci (judo trainer and president of Sorriso NGO), and Dr. Roberta Fornara, a philosopher and coordinator of the “Do You Want to Go Out with Me?” project. The discussion explored the role of sports and vocational training in empowering students with SEN, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and inclusion in education.
This exchange fostered a friendly and motivating atmosphere, paving the way for future collaborations and initiatives. It reinforced the value of sharing good practices in inclusive education and demonstrated the power of Erasmus+ projects to bring together educators, organizations, and communities to create meaningful opportunities for all.
